The origins of the castle should date back to just after the year 1000,in fact in 1167 the Emperor Frederick I (Barbarossa) took it off from the control of Guarnellotto of Mezzolombardi to assign it to the family of the Firidolfi Ricasoli.
The Tornano Castle has recently been restored and used as a hotel with the possibility of residence.
