Chianti Tower

Originally called water tower, is an old water tower, located in the municipality of San Casciano in Val di Pesa (Firenze) in Viale San Francesco.
The tower was built with a wooden structure in the early ‘ 900 and destroyed following the bombing of the second world war. In the early postwar years the tank was rebuilt in form and actual size. The structure consists of a reinforced concrete cylinder, hollow inside with a spiral staircase to reach into the tank and top access cover. In recent years a careful restoration work has allowed us to reuse the Tower through the recovery of its original function to serve the local waterworks, through the implementation of certain measures:-the installation of a panoramic elevator that leads to the top of the Tower (37 mt) and allows 360-degree viewing of the entire territory of Chianti.
