Spaltenna Parish Church

The town is mentioned for the first time in 1060 in some parchments of the Abbey of Coltibuono.        The Ricasoli family was from the beginning the owner of this rich church which was one of the most important churches in this area.

It is a Romanesque church, with three aisles and an apse, its walls and the bell tower are made of stone, and the façade has a rectangular opening.
In 1708 it lost the function of church and the baptismal font of the church of St. Sigismund transferred to Gaiole in Chianti.
