After leaving the charming central square of Greve in Chianti, you take road heading uphill out of town towards San Michele, the highest point in Chianti. The road is asphalted for the first kilometre, then the remaining 4 kilometres are typical ‘white roads‘. (10 minutes by car).
Turn right when you see the sign indicating “Le Cetinelle”. After 80 metres you will find yourselves facing a characteristic Tuscan farmhouse dating from the 5th century. The house is surrounded by vineyards, olives groves and woodland. It is a tiny corner of paradise only 10 minutes from the centre of the town.
Simonetta and Luca have lovingly restored this house using only original materials which render it particularly welcoming.
The Bed and Breakfast rooms are located on the first floor of the house.
There are six rooms, each with a private bathroom. There is also a dining room with a large fireplace and a kitchen. On the ground floor of the house is an apartment.
The house is surrounded by a large garden where there is a pool with a fantastic panoramic view where you can cool down and relax. There are children’s toys and swings, hammocks, tables and chairs and sun loungers dotted around the garden for everyone to use.
“Le Cetinelle‘ bed and breakfast is 600 metres above sea level and benefits from a particular microclimate, very different from that of the valley. During the summer it is much cooler. This is the best time to enjoy the garden and gaze at the stars at night, far from the lights of the town. In the winter it is much drier and sometimes the hills are tinged with white.
Springtime is full of colour and in Autumn the wine harvest and olive picking are in full sway, and it is also time of mushrooms and sweet chestnuts.
Italy is famous throughout the world for its culinary traditions, and Tuscan cooking is without doubt
one of the most important and well-known.
Tuscany is a land rich in flavours and, as well as the celebrated Chianti wine and the extra virgin olive oil , its tasty dishes are part of the Italian enogastronomic patrimony.
At “Le Cetinelle” Simonetta and her friend Kalinka, who is from the area, organise cookery lessons for those who would like to learn some of the secrets of Tuscan cooking. This is a pleasurable experience where they happily share their culinary expertise enabling you to reproduce some of these marellous dishes in your own homes.
During the lessons you learn to prepare fresh pasta or potato gnocchi with various sauces, second courses of meat or vegetables, side dishes and wonderful Tuscan and Italian desserts.Only the best quality ingredients for the cookery lessons are used, including fruit and vegetables from Simonetta’s own kitchen garden, potatoes cultivated by Luca and olive oil from the farm. After the lesson the dishes are brought to the table, accompanied by Luca’s organic wine, to be enjoyed by everyone who wishes to participate in a merry evening .
For guests who would just like to participate in the meal the cost is 30 euro per person (15 euros for children under 12).
We are also happy to organise dinners upon request at a cost of 30 euro per person (15 euros for children under 12).
